It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Or so crooned Andy Williams back in ‘63. And with the Christmas lights up, Slade on the radio and mince pies in the cupboard, it’s hard not to feel a little bit warm and fuzzy inside. Maybe the old guy had a point.
But one thing he forgot to mention was how busy – stressful, even – the build-up to Christmas can be. Especially if you’re unlucky enough to live away from many of your friends and family. And let’s face it – these days, that’s probably most of us. Rather than plonking presents under the tree mere seconds before you collapse into bed after one too many sherries, chances are you’ll have been getting into a festive tizzy about the logistics of it all. First there’s the epic hunt for those elusive gifts that people actually like. And then, once you’ve found them, there’s the matter of actually getting them there on time.
Some shipping companies don’t help, with early ‘last shipping’ dates that mean you have to start planning your Christmas shopping sometime in, oh, let’s see…late January?
