WHAT IS IT?

Shipper’s Interest Insurance or SII provides our customers with protection against risk of physical loss or damage to their shipment from external causes during transportation by DHL.

So what’s the difference between SII and Liability? DHL’s liability to the customer is limited in accordance with its terms and conditions. SII on the other hand indemnifies all losses and damages during transport and storage, indemnifies the customer for the declared value of the damaged or lost goods.

SO WHAT EXACTLY IS COVERED BY SII?

The cover is provided by way of a policy issued by Chartis. It applies to goods carried under a single Air Waybill and is for physical loss or damage of goods arising from an external cause during transportation such as natural disasters, perils, theft or, vehicle crash. Goods are insured for the actual value.

HOW DO I USE SII?

If you would like to insure your goods, please enquire at the counter of your local DHL Service Point.

WHAT IS THE COST OF SII?

The standard charge of Shipper’s Interest Insurance for DHL Service Point parcels is 1.5% of the actual value of goods you have declared (subject to a minimum charge of 12.00 GBP). This charge includes Insurance Premium Tax (IPT), where applicable.
