Iran Customs Update

iran-download-button

We would like to make you aware of a change to DHL’s global process that will affect shipments sent to Iran with immediate effect.

You will be aware that the UN Security Council Resolutions and various country laws or regulations prohibit the sending of certain commodities to named countries. The EU and US also have strict rules that extend beyond the UN sanctions against Iran.

To ensure we are fully compliant with UN sanction restrictions and not shipping prohibited items to embargoed countries or restricted parties, we have implemented additional sanction screening on all shipments to Iran.

What does this mean?

1. DHL Express will screen all shipments to Iran to ensure compliance with the UN Sanctions and Restrictions Listing. (Should a country have more stringent rules these will apply.)

2. Key elements of the compliance measures are:

  • Customers must provide an indemnity letter per shipment. An ongoing customer indemnity can no longer be accepted. A copy is available here
  • Shipments without the indemnity letter will not be sent
  • Indemnity letters will be scanned and the hardcopy will be filed by DHL in the origin country

Please ensure an indemnity letter is provided for every shipment to Iran – this will avoid potential delays should we need to contact you to request this.

If you also ship to other countries with UN Sanctions in place, please note that this screening process will be phased in and will shortly cover all restricted countries.
